Ronaldo finished 20th in Ballon d’Or, no one voted for him
Manchester United striker Cristiano Ronaldo was 20th in the voting to choose the winner of the 2022 Ballon d’Or, while the Portuguese did not receive a single vote, reports Goal.com, citing France Football magazine.
Ronaldo was one of 11 players who received no votes at all. The 37-year-old striker was only 20th because his past nominations were taken into account, as well as the fact that he had previously won the Ballon d’Or five times.
Harry Kane (Tottenham), Trent Alexander-Arnold, Darwin Nunez (both Liverpool), Phil Foden, Bernard Silva, Joao Cancel (all Manchester City), Joshua Kimmich ( Bayern Munich), Mike Meignan (Milan), Christopher Nkunk (RB Leipzig) and Antonio Rüdiger (Real Madrid).
Real Madrid and France striker Karim Benzema has won the Ballon d’Or for the first time in his career. 89 out of 93 jury members put the Frenchman in first place.
