President RFS Aleksandr Dyukov after the Russian Cup final between women’s teams CSKA and Zenit (2: 1) said the gap between men’s and women’s football is narrowing.
Congratulations to the women’s football club CSKA with the trophy. It was a great match, we saw quality football, there were so many emotions. The final was a 100% success. In terms of organization, the match took place at a very high level. A record number of spectators for women’s football in Russia came to the stadium where the World Cup was held – 18,702. Until recently, this was hard to imagine, but it is now a reality.
We see an increase in the popularity of women’s football not only in the world but also in Russia. There is a gap between women’s and men’s football, but it’s narrowing. Women’s football has a great future. I am sure that many of those who have come to the stadium will be attending the Super League matches next season.
For us this direction is very important. We are doing a lot both for the development of professional women’s football and for mass football. An increasing number of girls play soccer at school: 40% of those who have chosen the third soccer-based physical education class are girls. On my side RFS in every way it motivates and stimulates clubs to create women’s football sections in academies, so I have no doubt that in the near future there will be more and more matches with such a level of play and intensity.
