Former Zenit football player Alexander Gorshkov believes that the St. Petersburg leadership had reasons to remove defender Dmitry Chistyakov from the main team.
On Saturday, Zenit lost at home to Akhmat Grozny in the match of the 16th round of the MIR of the Russian Premier League with a score of 1:2. Chistyakov’s mistake led to the second goal against the hosts. Zenit head coach Sergei Semak replaced Chistyakov in the 32nd minute of the match. On Sunday, the general director of the club, Alexander Medvedev, told Match TV that Chistyakov had been removed from the main team.
– To be honest, the management probably had some reason to remove Chistyakov from the squad. Guessing on coffee grounds and trying to build some assumptions without knowing the whole situation is quite difficult. But it is clear that after one, even a gross, mistake of the players, they are not punished so seriously. This means that there were other reasons, for example, an internal conflict, RT Gorshkov quotes.
