The bronze medalist of the 1980 Olympic Games in the USSR national team Valery Gazzaev told Sport24 that it is incorrect to compare the level of the head coach of Rostov and the Russian national team Valery Karpin and the head coach of the Hungarian Ferencváros Stanislav Cherchesov, because specialists work in different conditions.
Under the leadership of Cherchesov, Ferencváros won the gold medals of the Hungarian Championship and the Hungarian Cup in the 2020/21 season. This season, the Hungarian club won the Europa League group and reached the 1/8 finals of the tournament.
Rostov with Valery Karpina is in third place in the WORLD RPL, gaining 32 points after 16 rounds.
– Now I would not compare Karpin and Cherchesov. Russian football is in isolation, and Stanislav has the opportunity to play with his club in the Champions League and the Europa League. Karpin has no such opportunities.
The Europa League final will take place at the Ferencváros stadium. I wish Stanislav to reach this final. And to compare him with Karpin is wrong. Now they are working in different conditions,” Gazaev said.
FIFA and UEFA suspended the Russian national team and domestic clubs from competitions under their auspices due to the situation in Ukraine.
