Former Spartak head coach Oleg Romantsev became chairman of the club’s veterans committee, reports official site commands.
On November 8, the Board of Directors of Spartak approved the creation of a committee of veterans of the club. The best scorer in the history of Spartak, Nikita Simonyan, became its honorary president.
— I am glad to inform our dear fans that at the initiative of the Board of Directors a committee of veterans has been created, and I have been entrusted with the honor of being its chairman. We unanimously elected Nikita Pavlovich Simonyan as Honorary President. The committee also included other well-known Spartacists. I am convinced that our work will provide a link between generations: the club’s contacts with the veteran community and fans will become closer and more permanent,” said Romantsev.
“We must always remember the traditions laid down by the Starostin brothers. And this, among other things, means honoring veterans: those people who forged the victorious glory of the Red-Whites, won championships and Cups on the football fields. As Andrei Petrovich Starostin liked to say, “Spartak” – from now on and forever and ever! Simonyan said.
Spartak became the champion of the USSR 12 times and the champion of Russia 10 times
