The Cameroon national team has announced a bid for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. The list also includes midfielder Gael Ondua, who has the citizenship of Russia and Cameroon.
Ondua was born in Cameroon, but from the age of nine he lived in Moscow. He was part of the Moscow Lokomotiv system along with the Miranchuk brothers, then played for the youth team of CSKA, and later played for Anji.
Earlier, Ondua noted his readiness to play for the Russian national team, but in the end he made a choice in favor of the Cameroonian national team.
The 27-year-old plays for German side Hannover.
The Cameroon national team at the 2022 World Cup fell into the same group with Switzerland, Serbia and Brazil. Cameroonians should play their first match in the tournament on November 24 with the Swiss team.
