Team USA Include Liberian President’s Son in Final 2022 World Cup Bid

Team USA has finalized its bid for the upcoming World Cup in Qatar.

Several players from top European clubs got into the national American team, in particular, Serginho Dest (Milan), Weston Mackeny (Juventus) and Christian Pulisic (Chelsea).

Included in the application is forward Tim Weah (Lille), who is the son of former Liberian forward George Weah. The latter is the only African player to have won the Ballon d’Or. George Weah has been the President of Liberia since 2018.

Goalkeepers: Ethan Horvath (Luton Town), Sean Johnson (New York City), Matt Turner (Arsenal).

Defenders: Cameron Carter-Vickers (Celtic), Serginho Dest (Milan), Aaron Long (New York Red), Shaq Moore (Nashville), Tim Rome (Fulham), Anthony Robinson (Fulham ”), Joe Scully (Borussia Mönchengladbach), DeAndre Yedlin (Inter Miami), Walker Zimmerman (Nashville).

Midfielders: Brenden Aaronson (Leeds United), Kellyn Acosta (Los Angeles), Tyler Adams (Leeds United), Luca de la Torre (Celta), Weston Mackeney (Juventus), Yunus Musa ( Valencia”), Christian Roldan (“Seattle Sounders”).

Forwards: Jesus Ferreira (Dallas), Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders), Christian Pulisic (Chelsea), Gio Reina (Borussia Dortmund), Josh Sargent (Norwich City), Tim Weah (Lille) , Hadji Wright (Antalyaspor).

The United States will face England, Iran and Wales in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.
