Last week, the 53-year-old specialist signed a new agreement with the Russian Football Union (RFU) until August 2024.
– Karpin impresses me as a coach of the Russian national team, and in general as a coach. Valery Georgievich is a really good specialist, he knows his business very well. I believe that his candidacy is now the most optimal for our national team.
Will it interfere with the combination? You have to ask him, I don’t know. It’s hard for me to say because I’ve never been in that situation. In general, of course, the coach is evaluated according to the competition. But, since we do not have such an opportunity now, it is difficult to understand whether this hinders him or helps him. And so, I think, in this case, there is nothing wrong with that, ”RB Sport quotes Ryazantsev as saying.
Karpin led the Russian national team in July 2021. On November 17, the team will play a friendly match with Tajikistan in Dushanbe, and three days later they will meet with Uzbekistan in Tashkent. Match TV will show both matches live.
