Scolari, who led Brazil to their fifth world title, retires from coaching

Former Brazil and Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has announced his retirement.

Scolari has been in charge of Atlético Paranaense since May of this year, which defeated Botafogo on Sunday in the final round match of the Brazilian championship (3:0). Atlético finished sixth in the Brazilian Serie A and qualified for the Copa Libertadores.

Scolari will take over as technical director of Atlético Paranaense next season.

Scolari in 2002 led the Brazilian national team to the fifth and at the moment the last world title. Also under his leadership, the Portuguese national team reached the final of the 2004 European Championship, where they lost to the Greeks. In addition, the Brazilian coached several leading clubs in his homeland, Chelsea, Uzbek Bunyodkor, Chinese Guangzhou Evergrande.
