Senegal Football Federation confirms Mane will miss 2022 World Cup in Qatar
Senegal striker Sadio Mane will not play at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar due to injury, according to the press service of the country’s football federation.
The Bayern Munich forward will not have time to recover from the injury he received last week in the German championship match with Werder Bremen. It was previously expected that the 30-year-old footballer would not help the team in the group stage matches of the World Cup.
Argentine striker Nicolas Gonzalez, who plays for Fiorentina, will also not play in the tournament. According to the press service of the Argentine Football Association (AFA), he will be replaced in the squad by Angel Correa from Atlético Madrid.
The World Cup in Qatar will be held from November 20 to December 18. The Senegal national team will play in a group with Qatar, the Netherlands and Ecuador. The Argentines will face teams from Saudi Arabia, Mexico and Poland.
