Former striker of the Russian national team Andrei Arshavin believes that it is too early for the Russian Football Union (RFU) to think about moving to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).
At the moment, Russian teams and clubs are not allowed to participate in international tournaments under the auspices of FIFA and UEFA due to the situation in Ukraine.
– Does the Russian team need to move to the Asian Football Confederation? I wouldn’t be in a hurry to go there. RFU is too early to think about it. I think it’s better for us to stay in UEFA and wait for the return to international tournaments, – quotes Arshavin “Championship”.
On November 14, the head coach of the Russian national team, Valery Karpin, told reporters that he would support the transfer of the RFU to the AFC due to the uncertainty over the admission of the national team to international competitions.
