Sergey Ovchinnikov: “I worry that the World Cup in Qatar will not turn into a political show”
Russian coach Sergei Ovchinnikov shared his worries that the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar could turn into a “political show”.
The tournament started on November 20 and will end on December 18.
– I’m worried that the World Cup will not turn into a political show. Because lately the situation has reached the point of absurdity. There should be a sports component and that’s it! However, unfortunately, we see the sayings of representatives of different countries, RT Ovchinnikov quotes.
Ovchinnikov added that he was referring to the proposal to exclude the Iranian team from the tournament.
– They also talked about Tunisia. Plus there were calls to return Ukraine. But if Iran is removed, then you won’t bring anyone from Europe, because a country from the Asian Confederation should take its place, the specialist added.
The Match TV channel became the exclusive owner of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Russia. As part of an agreement with FIFA, Match TV received the opportunity to broadcast live, use fragments of games on television, broadcast and use highlights on digital platforms, as well as sell advertising inventory in broadcasts. All 64 matches of the tournament will be shown on the platforms of Match TV channels.
