The Spanish national football team inflicted a major defeat on the Costa Rica team in the group stage match of the World Cup in Qatar.

Group E meeting in Doha ended with the score 7:0. Ferran Torres scored a double, Dani Olmo, Marco Asensio, Gavi, Carlos Soler and Alvaro Morata scored one goal each. Gavi became the youngest player and scorer in the history of the national team in World Cup matches.

For the Spanish national team, this is the biggest victory in the world championships: at the 1998 World Cup, the Spaniards beat the Bulgarian team with a score of 6: 1. The Costa Ricans did not deliver a single blow to the opponent’s goal, earlier at the World Championships this happened in another match with the participation of this team – against the Brazilians in 1990.

Earlier Wednesday, in another group match, the Japanese team won a strong-willed victory over the German national team – 2: 1.
