“There was a lot of struggle and little beautiful football” – Yezhov on the victory over Spartak in the Russian Cup

Midfielder “Wings of the Soviets” Roman Yezhov called the difficult match with “Spartak” (2:1) in the 5th round of the group stage of the FONBET Cup of Russia.

– After the second goal against Spartak, I experienced amazing emotions. It’s always nice to win, especially big teams like Spartak. It was quite a difficult match, equal. A lot of struggle, there was less beautiful football. But very happy. I won’t say that the match turned upside down. The game was on a collision course, an absolutely equal match – both they had chances and ours. I won’t say that we somehow turned the game around, we just continued to play our own game after the goal we conceded.

Fog? It is not very pleasant to play in such weather, and the field, unfortunately, was very wet. But all are on an equal footing. It was easier to see the players on the field, but there was discomfort, – Sport24 quotes Yezhov.

VIDEO. The best scorer of the year in the Ukrainian national team has been announced. All targets

The Ukrainian Football Federation has determined the top scorer of the national team in 2025.

This status was given to Polesie’s winger Alexey Gutsulyak, who scored 5 goals and made 3 assists.

Gutsulyak’s assistance became important in the decisive matches of the autumn, when the player scored a goal and made an assist in the match against Azerbaijan, and also scored and assisted in the match against Iceland.

This helped the Ukraine national team reach the 2026 World Cup qualifying play-offs against Sweden in March.
