The Qatar national football team showed the worst result in the history of the world championships among the teams that are the hosts of the tournament.
The Qataris at home to the 2022 World Cup took the last place in Group A, without scoring a single point in three matches. The team was defeated by the national teams of Ecuador (0:2), Senegal (1:3) and the Netherlands (0:2).
Since the group stages of the World Cup have been held, the hosts have not passed this stage twice: in 2010, the South African team finished third in the group with four points.
The Qatar national team also set an anti-record for goals conceded in the group stage for the host country of the World Cup.
