Former midfielder of the Russian national team Alexander Samedov spoke about the unsuccessful performance of the German national team at the group stage of the World Cup in Qatar, noting that the blame for the “catastrophe” lies with the team of Hans-Dieter Flick.
The Germans took four points from three games and finished third in the group, ahead of Japan (6) and Spain (4), who made it to the playoffs. At the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the German team also failed to qualify from the group with the teams of Sweden, Mexico and South Korea.
– The Germans themselves are to blame for flying out. It happens in football. The Japanese are great. Not leaving the group for the second world championship for the Germans is a catastrophe, but all the more interesting. I can’t say that the German national team showed itself poorly – they played a decent game with the Spaniards and led the Japanese. But this is football: four points – you win, but you go home. The Japanese showed crazy intensity and attitude, they really deserve it, – said Samedov “Championship”.
