“An unpleasant fact for both sides” – Arshavin about the clash between the players of Zenit and Spartak
Former football player of the Russian national team and Zenit Andrei Arshavin commented on the fight between the players of the St. Petersburg club and Moscow Spartak during the match of the sixth round of the FONBET Cup of Russia, noting that this is an unpleasant fact for both sides.
In the match of the 6th round of the group stage, there was a mass brawl after the final whistle. As a result of the fight, six players of the match were sent off: Shamar Nicholson, Alexander Sobolev and Alexander Selikhov (all from Spartak), as well as Wilmar Barrios, Rodrigao and Malcolm (all from Zenit). Later they received 6 match suspensions from the FTC.
What do you think of that fight?
– I didn’t see it so well – we were standing on the field in a completely different corner. I didn’t watch it separately on purpose – only what they managed to show during the broadcast. In general, an unpleasant fact for both parties. But hard disqualifications can also be understood – the RFU is not interested in fights. We have to live with this.
– Now some believe that the instigators are Spartacists, others – that they are Zenit. Do you think Promes is to blame?
Blaming him is the easy part. But why did he approach Barrios two or three times after the foul was committed? Probably, if he had not done this, everything would have ended on a free kick.
Do you agree with the decision of the FTC? Or should Promes be removed?
– Here the question is – for what? Often someone provokes someone, and then they send others away because they hit or brushed them off. Probably, the KDK did not find why to delete it. Probably not removed for provocation.
– Have you had episodes in your career when you wanted to pounce on an opponent in this way?
– Basically, in my youth – I fought a lot on the field. I remember when they played in the hall, for three years I fought with the same player. Did he become famous? No, – quotes the words of Arshavin Metaratings.ru.
