Former goalkeeper of Spartak Moscow and the USSR national team Anzor Kavazashvili believes that in the Russian Premier League (RPL) it is necessary to tighten the limit on foreign players, those foreigners who played at the World Championships and the Olympic Games should play.
According to Match TV, the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation and the Russian Football Union (RFU) returned to the topic of tightening the limit on legionnaires in the RPL.
– In Russian clubs, a maximum of 2-3 foreign players should play. These should be the strongest foreign players who have played in national teams, and at all ages. We only need those legionnaires who played at the Olympic Games and the World Cup. Only such players need to be bought, and not those that we take and unfasten money on them to each other.
We in Russia teach legionnaires to play, and our talented guys at this time are sitting in the ass and cannot play in their own clubs. Of course, it is necessary to tighten the limit, no more than three foreigners should be in teams, – Metaratings.ru quotes Kavazashvili.
The 13+12 limit was introduced in the Premier League at the start of this season. It assumes the presence in the application of the RPL club of no more than 13 foreign players and at least 12 players with a Russian passport. At the same time, no more than eight foreign players can enter the field at the same time.
