The former player of the Spanish Deportivo Dmitry Radchenko noted that every year the topic of the limit on legionnaires in the Russian championship is discussed, but there are no improvements.

On Thursday, the Russian Football Union (RFU) confirmed Match TV’s information about a meeting with the Russian Ministry of Sports on the issue of a limit on legionnaires in Russian football. The organization emphasized that at the meeting “the parties came to the conclusion that there are no grounds for revising the limit at the moment.”

– This topic is discussed every year, but there is no improvement in our football. My position remains what it was. When I played in Spain, there was also a limit on foreigners: three in the field, and they had to be exactly the players of the European level, which should be higher than the local players. And one in stock. I stick to this limit. There are a lot of conversations, but I don’t see any effect.

I work in youth football and I see what is happening there. In order for our players to get into the main squads of the WORLD RPL clubs, it is necessary to work very effectively in youth football. And if our coach receives a salary at some sports school, then he has to work two more jobs to feed his family. And take money from your parents. What kind of development are we talking about here? — quotes the words of Radchenko Metaratings.ru.

From the 2022/23 season, the Premier League has a limit on foreign players according to the formula “13 + 12”. It assumes the presence in the application of the RPL club of no more than 13 foreign players and at least 12 players with a Russian passport. At the same time, no more than eight foreign players can enter the field at the same time.
