The head coach of the Russian national team Valery Karpin praised the work of women referees at the World Championships in Qatar.
Stephanie Frappart became the first woman to serve as chief referee at a men’s world championship. The 38-year-old Frenchwoman served in the group stage match between the national teams of Costa Rica and Germany (2:4). Kathryn Nisbit became an assistant referee in the 1/8 final match between England and Senegal (3:0).
– It is difficult to judge by two games. I can name a dozen male judges who are also not up to the mark. So what? Judging by the fact that some female referee had a bad match… Men also had failed matches, 100%, Sport24 quotes Karpin.
