Russian referee Igor Fedotov commented on the episode with the appointment of a penalty against the Croatian national team in the 1/2 final match world Cup-2022 with Argentina (0:3).
I don’t understand the controversy about the penalty against Croatia. Livakovich put up a barrier and took the Argentine down. Someone, perhaps, thought it was the opponent who bumped into the goalkeeper, but there was little distance and the goalkeeper put his foot in advance. As a result, the Argentine, of course, tried to go around the goalkeeper, past whom he had already thrown the ball, but failed due to Livakovich’s violation of the rules. Yellow is shown here for denying a clear scoring opportunity without attempting to play the ball. It was easier for the referees to put a penalty: there is no need to invent anything here who set foot there earlier or later. Everything is simple.
