In Argentina, they may issue a banknote with the image of the captain of the national team Lionel Messi, informs El Financiero.

This possibility is being considered by the National Bank of Argentina. Messi’s face may appear on the 1000 peso bill – the banknote’s denomination begins with the forward game number (“10”). On the reverse side of the bill, they want to put the nickname of the head coach of the Argentina national team Lionel Scaloni “La Scaloneta”.

On Sunday, December 18, the Argentine team in the final of the 2022 World Cup defeated France in a penalty shootout. In this game, Messi scored two goals and scored once in the penalty shootout. In total, Messi scored seven goals in seven matches at the tournament and became the best player in the World Cup.

The National Bank of Argentina has already issued commemorative coins when Argentina won its first World Cup in 1978, as well as during the celebrations of the 200th anniversary of the country’s independence (2016) and to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of former First Lady Eva Peron (2002).
