Former Zenit midfielder Pavel Mogilevets told Sport24 that he wanted to play in Italy.
— Did you have career options in Europe?
– I wanted to play in Italy, especially after working with Spalletti. At the Zenit Academy, my team went to the tournament there – they won then, I proved myself. After that, I began to follow Serie A. I think there I would have had the most opportunities to prove myself. Of course, I’m not talking about the top teams.
If my affairs were then handled by people who had a specific goal of sending me to Europe, at the age of 20 I would calmly leave somewhere. Even in Serie B, I would have gone under the task of getting up. I then just started to be involved in the Russian national team, and I think there would definitely be a demand. And the question of money would not even stand.
But such an understanding comes only with age,” said Mogilevets for Sport24.
Pavel Mogilevets, 29, played for Rubin, Rostov, Khimki, Nizhny Novgorod and Bunyodkor. As part of Zenit, he became the champion of Russia.
