RFU rejected Zenit’s complaint about the decision on the Russian Cup match with Spartak
The Appeals Committee of the Russian Football Union (RFU) denied the St. Petersburg Zenit to satisfy the complaint and upheld the decision of the Control and Disciplinary Committee (CDC), adopted following the results of the Russian Cup match against Moscow Spartak, according to the website of the RFU.
The meeting of the sixth round of the group stage took place on November 27 in St. Petersburg and ended with the victory of the hosts on penalties (0:0, 4:2).
At the end of the regular time of the match, a brawl occurred between the players, as a result of which three players from each team were sent off – Alexander Sobolev, Shamar Nicholson, Alexander Selikhov (all – Spartak), as well as Wilmar Barrios, Rodrigao and Malcolm (all – Zenit “).
They were suspended for six matches of the Cup of Russia in accordance with part 2 of article 97 of the disciplinary regulations of the RFU.
