Former Spartak coach Raul Riancho believes that the transition of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to the Asian Confederation (AFC) could throw Russian football back in development.
Earlier it was announced that the vote on the transfer of Russian football from UEFA to AFC was postponed, the RFU explained this by the need for additional consultations. It is planned that the voting will take place until December 31, 2022.
– The transition to the Asian Confederation could be a huge step back for Russian football. It will be very disappointing if the RFU does not find other options. It is better to wait for a return to European competition, if possible.
Of course, it is possible that after moving to the AFC, most legionnaires will leave the RPL. Many of them saw European competition as an opportunity for professional growth. Of course, this will weaken the level of the league, – quotes the words of Riancho “RB Sport”.
