On Monday (January 2), Pele’s body will be sent from the Albert Einstein Hospital to the stadium, where the coffin will be placed in the center of the field. Mass farewells are expected to begin at 10 am local time. The ceremony will last a day, and on January 3, a funeral will take place.

Pele is the only three-time world football champion (1958, 1962, 1970). He played 92 matches for Brazil and scored 77 goals. At the club level, the striker played for the Brazilian Santos and New York Cosmos. The Brazilian is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the author of 1279 career goals.
