Brazilian football club “Santos” at the official website announced the details of the farewell ceremony and funeral of the legendary player of the national team Pele.

The three-time world champion died on Thursday at the age of 82 from multiple organ failure caused by cancer. Recently, the legendary footballer was battling colon cancer.

On Monday (January 2), Pele’s body will be sent from the Albert Einstein Hospital to the stadium, where the coffin will be placed in the center of the field. Mass farewells are expected to begin at 10 am local time. The ceremony will last a day, and on January 3, a funeral will take place.

Pele is the only three-time world football champion (1958, 1962, 1970). He played 92 matches for Brazil and scored 77 goals. At the club level, the striker played for the Brazilian Santos and New York Cosmos. The Brazilian is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the author of 1279 career goals.
