The head coach of the Leningradets football club Sergey Kiryakov appreciated the role of the legendary Brazilian football player Pele in world sports history.

Pele passed away on Thursday at the age of 82 after battling colon cancer. Earlier it became known that the body of the Brazilian stopped responding to chemotherapy.

“Everyone learned from it. Everyone, with their mouths open, watched his goals, somewhere someone took out video cassettes at one time. Watched him score, admired. He is the king of football, without any doubt. The best soccer player of all time! It’s a pity he’s leaving. Only the best memories remain about him and, of course, admiration for the football that he showed.

Pele gave pleasure to all viewers in his time and after himself for many years. Gone is the era, gone is the legend. We will only remember him with good words. His name is forever inscribed in golden letters in the history of international football. I think that many generations will talk about him only with admiration. A man who has done a lot for the development of world football, – said Kiryakov “Championship”.

Pele is the only three-time world football champion (1958, 1962, 1970). He played 92 matches for Brazil and scored 77 goals. At the club level, the striker played for the Brazilian Santos and New York Cosmos.
