“There is no need to rush to move to Asia – no one is driving us out of Europe” – Kanchelskis

Former Russian national team player Andrei Kanchelskis believes that the Russian Football Union (RFU) does not need to move to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) from UEFA.

On December 30, the executive committee of the RFU passed. The union, together with UEFA, FIFA and the IOC, will create a working group that will work on the issue of returning Russian football to international competitions by April 1. The main task is to return to UEFA competitions as soon as possible.

— There is no need to rush to move to Asia — no one is driving us out of Europe. Now, if they are expelled from Europe, then we will deal with other issues. The kindergarten gathers there: they don’t understand what they are talking about at all. Children need to play football, not the question of where to go and come. The RFU needs to stick to UEFA, thank them for not kicking us out anywhere. You don’t need to argue with anyone.

Has anyone on the executive committee played football? Did these people play football? I will not swear at them – they are functionaries. But they never played football in their lives. Let them hit the brakes and understand in which direction to move, – quotes the words of Kanchelskis “Championship”.

Russian clubs and teams have been suspended from participation in tournaments under the auspices of UEFA and FIFA due to the situation in Ukraine.

Bulykin named the position that Spartak needs to strengthen

Former Russian national football player Dmitry Bulykin expressed his opinion on how Spartak could strengthen during the winter window.

What kind of player does Spartak need in the winter transfer window? First of all, another goalscoring striker. They are already in a good position and can fight for the championship, but due to the atmosphere in the team there were disagreements.

Now we need a good coach who unites them with a single goal and task. If I were in Spartak, I would find another goalscoring striker in the winter and fight for the championship.

Amorim explains Casemiro’s surprise substitution against Newcastle

Mentor Manchester United Reuben Amorim he said he replaced the midfielder Casemiro during the 1–0 win over Newcastle United because he felt the Brazilian would “struggle” with the intensity of the second half.

Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte formed United’s midfield duo in the absence of Bruno Fernandes, who missed the match with a hamstring injury, but Amorim replaced the Brazilian with Leni Yoro in the 61st minute.

After seeing his number on the substitution board, Casemiro pointed to himself and was disappointed with Amorim’s decision to replace him so early in the match.

Asked to explain Casemiro’s substitution, Amorim replied: “At that moment I didn’t want to shoot [Матеуса] Cunho because he is the only one who allows us to be creative and I put him in position number 10. Jack [Флетчер] it was fresh and could continue, Manu [Угарте] he was cooler than Casemiro. In the end we decided to replace him because they were making a lot of quick passes and I felt that at that point he would have difficulty.”
