Former football player of the Russian national team Dmitry Bulykin said that he was given the experience of nominating a candidate for legislative bodies.

In 2019, Bulykin ran for the Moscow City Duma, and in 2021 for the State Duma of the Russian Federation.

How is your political career going? Is there any continuation to be expected?

— I am still engaged in social activities: I help people, I fight for justice. As for politics, when I tried to get into the Moscow City Duma and the State Duma, I realized that there was a lot of dirt and a lot of things that were incomprehensible to me. But it is perfectly clear to those who have been cooking there for a long time. But in any case, this is a certain experience, certain acquaintances, certain PR. Nothing to regret. I try to help everyone and be an active citizen,” Bulykin said in an interview with Match TV.

He also recalled a conflict with CSKA defender Sergei Ignashevich during a match in 2004. The forward then played for Dynamo Moscow.

– I wouldn’t call it a fight – they just brushed each other aside. Referee Ivanov gave us a red card, and we were the main players of the national team, so it was not very good for the national team or for us. As a result, at the FTC we were reduced the period of disqualification: we missed a couple of matches, and the rest – conditionally. In general, these were the usual gaming emotions. In that match, I won the entire horse fight against Ignashevich, I pinched him somewhere. I don’t think that card is very fair – we just pushed around, we couldn’t even give a slap in the face, ”Bulykin noted.

At club level, Bulykin also played in Europe for Bayer, Anderlecht, Fortuna Dusseldorf, ADO Den Hag, Ajax and Twente.
