“It was impossible to make noise and talk loudly.” Mostovoy spoke about life with Cherchesov on the basis of Spartak
Ex-player of Spartak and the Russian national football team Alexander Mostovoy told Metaratings.ru about how he lived in the same room at the base with goalkeeper Stanislav Cherchesov.
– What was the way of life under Cherchesov?
– With Stas, everything was the opposite, because he was very disciplined. It was impossible to make noise and talk loudly, so they kept silence. Stas differed from others in his straightforwardness, discipline and some rigidity. No one particularly liked to communicate with Stas, because they understood that he was a peculiar person. But from him we saw what professionalism is. He had everything on time, everything was clean, everything was folded. If you need to sleep, then you need to sleep.
– Do you think Cherchesov has changed a lot in these 30 years?
– I don’t know, after all, we constantly crossed paths in the national team after Spartak, and when he became the head coach of the Russian national team, I saw him at most twice.
Mostovoy and Cherchesov played together for Spartak in 1987–1991. As part of the Moscow club, both are champions of the USSR in the 1987 and 1989 seasons.
