The former head coach of Kuban and Dynamo Moscow, Dan Petrescu, admitted that he was shocked by the news about the possible transition of the RFU to the Asian Confederation (AFC).
– The transition of the RFU to the AFC? First time I hear about it. It is difficult to comment on this decision. I’m shocked, I have nothing to say.
I hope that professionals and adequate people sit in UEFA and RFU. I am only a coach, and this is not my decision, but Russia must remain in Europe, Petrescu told Sport24.
On December 30, a meeting of the executive committee of the RFU was held, where the question of a possible transition to the AFC was postponed. The RFU, together with UEFA, FIFA and the IOC, will create a working group that will work on the issue of returning Russian football to international competitions until April 1. The main task is to return to UEFA competitions as soon as possible.
