Argentina striker Lionel Messi is pictured holding a fake World Cup in a record-breaking social media photo, according to RMC Sport.

Messi’s post on Instagram* after winning the World Cup in Qatar set the record for the most likes in social media history, garnering over 74 million likes.

According to the source, the photo of Messi was taken with a fake trophy, which the players of the Argentina national team received from a couple of fans during the lap of honor on the field of the Lusail Stadium, where the final was held. Fans named Paula and Manuel brought a replica of the World Cup to Doha as a mascot from Buenos Aires.

“Before the World Cup, we contacted people who make mugs, and, according to them, it took them six months to make a replica of the cup. It has the weight of the original, inside it is made of resin, quartz and filled with gold paint. There are details, signs and landforms that do not look like the original, but the difference is minimal, RMC Sport quotes the couple, citing an interview with the French newspaper Clarin.

Argentina beat France 3-3, 4-2 on penalties in the World Cup final. Messi was named the best player of the tournament.
