Messi named IFFHS Footballer of the Year

The International Federation of Football History and Statistics (IFFHS) has named Lionel Messi the best player in the world at the end of the year.
The Argentine striker took the first metso in the ranking with 275 points in the asset. Messi’s PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe of France finished second with 35 points. Mbappe’s compatriot forward Karim Benzema closed the top three with 30 points.
Next on the list are Croat Luka Modric (15 points) and Norwegian Erling Haaland (5).
Messi last year became the world champion as part of the Argentina national team, which defeated the French team at the World Cup in Qatar in the final on penalties.
