Former Dynamo Moscow sports director Roman Oreshchuk told RB Sport that he does not consider the departure of defender Dejan Lovren from Zenit a serious loss.
The 33-year-old Croat left the Blue-White-Blues on January 2 and moved to Lyon.
“Lovren is a quality player,” said Oreshchuk. – Of course, this is a loss, but not so serious. Dejan did not show the game that Zenit was counting on. He was not a 100% defensive pillar, he made many scoring mistakes. Yes, Lovren is a quality player, kept his mark, but did not play at the level of Liverpool.
– Who will be the new captain of “Zenith”?
– The whole team should choose him. The captain must be not only a good footballer, but also a person, so it’s hard to say who will become the captain of Zenit.
Lovren with Zenit became a two-time champion of Russia and a three-time winner of the country’s Super Cup.
