Barcelona president expects Superliga and Premier League merger

Barcelona president Joan Laporta has said he believes the Superliga could be launched from 2025 if a key court decision is in favor of the project.
A lawsuit alleging that football’s governing bodies UEFA and FIFA abused their power when they threatened to expel clubs or players who joined the alleged Super League is awaiting a verdict from the European Court.
– In March or April, we will receive a verdict from the European Court. The Super League will be an open competition. I would not have participated in this project if the tournament had not been open.
I think that first we will introduce a European tournament that will compete with the Premier League. I do not expect English clubs to enter our tournament from the very beginning, this is my personal opinion, – quotes the words of the head of the Catalan club Cadena SER.
Laporta also suggested that there would “eventually be a merger” between the potential European Super League and the English Premier League.
