Former player of the Russian national team and Zenit Alexander Kerzhakov, commenting on the possible transition of the Russian Football Union (RFU) to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), said that he had always associated Russia in terms of football with Europe.

At the end of December, a meeting of the executive committee of the RFU was held, where the issue of a possible transition to the AFC was discussed. It was decided that the RFU, together with the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), will create a working group that will work on the issue of returning Russian football to international competitions by April 1. Last year, UEFA and FIFA suspended Russian teams and clubs from participating in tournaments due to the situation in Ukraine.

I have no influence on these decisions. The Russian national team has always played in Europe. Who can be in favor of moving to Asia? I dont know. For me, Russia has always been associated in terms of football with Europe.
