More than half of Congo youth team players fail age test – media
The Congo youth football team will not be able to take part in the upcoming African Cup of Nations qualification for an unusual reason, according to the BBC.
On the eve of the team of players under 17, in the preliminary composition of which 40 players were announced, was tested for biological age. It turned out that of these 25 athletes are actually older than officially follows from the documents.
It is also noted that of the 15 players who managed to pass the test, only five completed the necessary administrative formalities that would allow them to go to the tournament.
The Africa Cup of Nations for U-17 teams will take place in April in Algiers. In the qualification group, the matches of which will start on January 12, the Congo team was supposed to meet with the Central African Republic, Chad and Cameroon.
