English billionaire Jim Ratcliff formally entered into negotiations to purchase from the Glaser family Manchester United club. This information was confirmed by a businessman’s representative.
Ratcliffe is the founder and co-owner of Ineos, which operates in the chemical sector. In 2020 his fortune was estimated at £28.2 billion, in the Bloomberg Billionaires Index he was ranked 55th richest person in the world and 2nd in the UK.
The businessman already owns French Nice and tried to buy Chelsea last year. Ratcliffe’s firm is also a sponsor of the Mercedes Formula 1 team.
