Australian referee Anton Shchetinin, who worked at the World Cup in Qatar, told Sport24 how he spent his free time at the tournament.

Did you manage to walk around Doha?

– So we know it so well – since the matches of the Asian Champions League are often played here, we come here at least 4-5 times a year. Specifically, during the World Cup, they didn’t walk – they didn’t forbid us, it’s just too much tension. They filmed it in a bar where all the judges lived.

– How much can the referee drink after the match so that it does not affect the tournament?

– Depends on the person – the main thing is that he himself can reach the room. On average, five glasses of beer could well be drunk. Sitting, chatting, watching football – why not relax if you know that you will not receive an appointment within a few days? If you are ready to run a workout in the morning after the bar, hold the flag.

– Who is the most enduring among the judges of the World Cup?

– The Germans showed themselves well, but the British turned out to be surprisingly weak. (Laughs.) But no one was carried out in their arms.
