“I agree that the good performance of the Russian team at the 18 World Cup was a flash” – Granat

Former Russian national team player Vladimir Granat agreed with commentator Gennady Orlov that the successful performance of the Russian team at the 2018 World Cup was a flash.

Earlier, Orlov, in an interview with Sport24, also criticized the former head coach of the national team Stanislav Cherchesov, who called the awarding of the title of ZMS to the national team players well-deserved.

– I agree that the good performance of our team at the World Cup in Russia was a flash, but if we talk about it in a good way. Who expected what from the team? The team reached the quarter-finals and lost there only on penalties, they could have gone further.

If we talk about the fact that after the tournament everyone was given the title of ZMS, then none of the guys boast of this title. I have not met those who boast that they have become ZMS. And the fact that Cherchesov betrayed the profession and it was not necessary to award this sports title to the players is the personal opinion of Gennady Orlov. Let him think so, everyone has their own vision for all this. You can’t please everyone, everyone won’t have the same opinion,” Granat told Metaratings.ru.

At the World Championships in Russia, the national team reached the quarterfinal stage, where they lost to Croatia (2:2, 3:4 on penalties).
