The general director of Kazan Rubin, Alexander Aibatov, said that the process of appointing Yuri Utkulbaev as the head coach of the team was delayed only because of technical issues, otherwise his candidacy is completely satisfied with the club’s management.

Utkulbaev has been in charge of Rubin since November last year, when Leonid Slutsky resigned. On Saturday, 53-year-old Utkulbaev was confirmed as the head coach.

– In fact, the appointment of the head coach did not last long. Everything was discussed in advance and decisions were made, but there were some technical issues.

Many factors played why the club chose the candidacy of Utkulbaev. He once played in Rubin, worked for a long time in the system of the Kazan club and the youth team, where he gained experience. He acquired a wealth of knowledge as a head coach, having worked at Neftekhimik and Kazakhstan’s Aktobe. Now Yury Anvarovich must prove that he is ready to solve higher goals. The most important and obvious task is to reach the RPL. Extension clause? I will not comment on the details of the contract,” Aibatov told Sport24.

Rubin is third in the MELBET League One table with 37 points in 20 rounds, one point behind second place. The first two teams at the end of the season will enter the WORLD RPL directly, the third and fourth will play in play-offs with the 13th and 14th RPL teams for entry into the elite division.
