Former Rubin player Alexei Popov admits that the Kazan club will not return to the RPL WORLD under the leadership of head coach Yuri Utkulbaev.

The specialist was approved on January 28 until the end of the 2022/23 season. After 20 rounds in MELBET First League, Rubin is in third place in the standings.

– I don’t know what Rubin’s tasks are, but if the team has serious tasks, then the appointment of Utkulbaev is not very logical. He is a qualified coach, but he did not have any results in his career. Previously, there was Slutsky, at one time one of the best coaches in Russia, and now they appoint a specialist who has been simply training for 15 years.

– Do you admit that Rubin with Utkulbaev will not enter the RPL at the end of this season?

– Many people think so. Now the club is changing. If Rubin does not enter the RPL at the end of this season, everyone can write it off for perestroika, RB Sport quoted Popov as saying.
