Chelsea framed Ziyech, Brighton didn’t rob Arsenal. These best deals fell through at the last minute

The players were already preparing to move.

Transfers are issued, there are no more transfers. The window in Europe was closed – and some clubs still managed to conclude deals at the finish line (Gorginho – at Arsenal, Sabitzer – at Manchester United). And some are less fortunate.

Malcolm stays at Zenit

Rumors of interest in the Paris Saint-Germain Brazilian striker began to circulate in the last days of January. The French giant considered the former Barcelona player a secondary option, the candidacy of Lyon midfielder Ryan Cherka was considered a priority for the club’s directors. Therefore, initially, in negotiations with Zenit, the Parisians took a break (attempts to retake Sherki were left until the summer).

Subsequently, they reverted to the option to acquire Malcolm – the head coach of Petersburgers Sergey Semak also confirmed the rumors:

As for the proposal for Malcolm, it hasn’t been officially announced, but there is interest from Paris Saint-Germain, I’ve spoken to Malcolm. We are waiting for a formal proposal, and if it follows, we will be ready to consider it.

But the negotiations proceeded slowly. The striker himself agreed to the transition. Zenit, according to rumors, insisted on a full transfer or loan with a mandatory buy-out – and was ready to consider an offer in the amount of at least 40 million euros. TO PSG these terms could not be accepted due to issues with financial fair play – only a lease option remained available with an optional purchase option. Apparently, the parties have failed to agree on the format of the deal.

Chelsea pissed off Ziyech

I also wanted a Moroccan PSG. At the close of the transfer window, only the French giant remained in the fight for the winger Manchester United Hakim didn’t want to go. The parties discussed the format of the lease agreement with the right to purchase, even managing to agree on all the details.

And then the confusion with the documents began. The process of closing the deal was slowed down by the fact that in parallel the heads of the “aristocrats” sorted out the details of the transfer of Enzo Fernandez from Benfica. Ziyech had already arrived in Paris by that time, and in the evening he began to write to Todd Boeli, begging him to hurry up with registration – according to some rumors, he offered to pay the rent from his account.

The Blues sent incorrect documents to the French giant’s office three times, with the corrected version sent after the transfer market closed. PSG he appealed, but it was rejected.

Everyone is furious now, except Chelsea: according to rumors, the Parisians will no longer have business with the English giant. Hakim is angry with his team and stays in Paris for now.

Azmun received neither Zenit nor Marseille

The Iranian did not do well in the German championship. Last season, a goal and an assist in 9 games, this season – 10 games in the Bundesliga and not a single goal action. According to rumors, Marseille was going to join the negotiations with Bayer, but in addition to Serdar, the French club had 2-3 other candidates.

In case the parties did not agree, Azmun was considering returning to Zenit – it was reported that consultations were held with the Blue-White-Blues on this issue.

In addition to Zenit, the breeders Lokomotiv and Sochi considered the option with Serdar – in their case it was a loan until the end of the season.

Returning to Russia for the Iranian striker would be a big step – he did not show himself in Germany, potential candidates for a footballer would simply have nothing to hold on to. It’s inside RPL more familiar environment.

Arsenal sign Jorginho in place of Caicedo

Another battle for the transfer took place Premier League for talented Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo who joined the Seagulls last summer. The team did not want to let go of the backbone player, so they were ready to start negotiations only if the midfielder was offered at least 70 million pounds.

The pursuit included Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool. The “aristocrats” probably saw the 21-year-old Ecuadorian as an alternative to Enzo Fernandez. The Merseysiders have in no way strengthened their midfield, although the club has its main problems in this position.

The Aristocrats started negotiations with an offer of €73m, Brighton requested €85m. The Gunners were ready to pay €60m and were turned down. Apparently, then the Blues focused on Fernandez: Liverpool could not accept the conditions of the Seagulls.

The offers approached ever higher sums, Moises was able to say goodbye to the team and missed practice. And at that moment, the bosses of Arsenal switched to Jorginho – the Italian eventually moved to the Gunners, and Caicedo remained at Brighton. The London clubs have decided to save money and the Seagulls have managed to keep an important player, all in profits.

Isco did not arrive in Berlin

But the Spaniard is still in free agent status. The Berlin “Union” got to the midfielder – the team is now very close to the leader of the Bundesliga “Bavaria”. The parties have agreed to sign a contract until 2024 with the possibility of extending for another season.

Even before the transfer window closed, it turned out that Isco had failed a medical examination – this could affect the terms of the agreement. After an insider about the threat of the transfer being stopped, the German club’s sporting director, Oliver Ruhnert, said:

We would love to have Isco with us, but we have our limits. Today they have been passed contrary to previous agreements, so the transfer will not take place.

The discussion about tightening the limit in the RPL is not over – Dyukov

Discussion of a possible tightening of the limit for foreign players in the Russian Premier League (RPL) is not finished yet. The president of the Russian Football Federation told journalists this (RFU) Alexander Diukov.

The Ministry of Sports proposes to tighten the limit for foreign players by 2028 according to the “10 foreign players in the application, 5 on the field” scheme.

“The Ministry gave the football community, experts and specialists the opportunity to talk openly about this issue. As far as I understand, the discussion process continues,” Dyukov said.

According to the current limit, clubs RPL can include 13 foreign players in the application and release 8 foreign players on the field. In September, the Russian Football Federation said that the current limit allows for the first time to increase the playing time of young players to 18%.
