UK law enforcement authorities have dropped charges against Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood, who previously became a defendant in a criminal case, this is stated in a statement by the Manchester police.

“Given the extensive media coverage of this case, it is fair to share that the 21-year-old man who was arrested and charged in connection with the investigation launched in January 2022 is no longer prosecuted.

The investigation team has been in regular contact with the legal team providing important updates and therefore understands the reasons for terminating the proceedings at this stage and that this decision was not taken lightly. Despite the interest of the media and the public in this case, we decided not to comment on it in more detail, ”said a police spokeswoman quoted by Sky Sports.

In January last year, model Harriet Robson posted photos with a broken lip and bruises on her body. According to her, Greenwood beat her and raped her. Manchester United suspended the striker from training and matches, then the police arrested the Englishman. The player was later released on bail. In October, it was reported that Greenwood was re-incarcerated for violating bail conditions. He was charged with attempted rape, violent behavior and assault on a person.

Greenwood has made 129 appearances for Manchester United, scoring 35 goals and making 12 assists.
