Ovchinnikov believes that the RFU successfully solves the problems of youth football

The Russian Football Union (RFU) is making efforts to develop youth football, the situation is changing for the better, said former Russian national team goalkeeper Sergei Ovchinnikov.

You know, I’m already 52 years old. And all this time I hear about them. Great specialists, leaders and coaches come with this motto. But from what you say a thousand times about the problem, it will not be solved. We must not speak, but do. Take constructive steps to change the existing situation. We have a shortage of competitions, equipment, qualified coaches, fields where children could practice. And the RFU is trying to deal with all this.

Finally, with the arrival of Alexander Dyukov and Maxim Mitrofanov, the situation began to change. The UFL appeared – these are very well organized competitions, fully sponsored by the RFU, which is also important. From the point of view of the sports component, they are interesting, since equal and fairly strong opponents play there. In such an environment, the child develops as an athlete.

Many women’s football programs are now being implemented. I won’t be wrong if I say that UEFA, oddly enough, is helping us today. Contacts related to educational activities have not yet ceased. And individual statements by our deputies, who, in my opinion, are simply incompetent in this matter, only hinder the process. I repeat, we try not to talk about problems, but to solve them, ”Ovchinnikov told RT.

Dyukov has been heading the RFU since 2019; in February 2021, he was re-elected for a four-year term.

INFANTINO: “If there was no FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries of the world”

FIFA President Gianni Infantino He commented on World Cup ticket prices, saying they reflected “absolutely insane” demand for next summer’s tournament:

“We have six to seven million tickets and in 15 days we received 150 million ticket requests. So every day we have 10 million requests. This shows how strong the World Cup is.”

FIFA has sold just 44 million tickets in almost 100 years of the World Cup. So we were able to sell tickets for the 300th anniversary of the World Cup in two weeks. Just imagine. “This is absolutely crazy.”

Infantino also noted that funds from ticket sales would be reinvested into world football, but did not specify a specific amount:

“The important thing is that the revenue from this goes back into football around the world. If it weren’t for FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries of the world. Football exists thanks to the revenues we get from the World Cup, and we reinvest that into football around the world.”

Previously, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on FIFA to further reduce 2026 World Cup ticket prices.
