Abascal commented on the victory over Rostov on penalties

Spartak head coach Guillermo Abascal said he was satisfied with the team’s performance in the Winline match of the RPL Winter Cup against Rostov, given the state of the team at this stage of preparation for the resumption of the championship.

Spartak beat Rostov on penalties. Regular time ended with a score of 0:0, in a series of 11-meter kicks, the Red-Whites were stronger – 2:1.

– I’m happy for the guys, how they approached the game, I’m happy with the mood. In general, the feeling is positive, but with a caveat at what stage of preparation for the season we are. We have done 30% of the work, there is still a lot to be corrected. But from this side, I am satisfied, they showed what we wanted to see, what the players did in training, ”Abaskal said on Match TV.

Rostov head coach Valery Karpin also expressed his opinion about the game.

— Until the 70th minute, I liked a lot of things, I can say that everything. Not everything worked out, but everyone liked it. Exit defense, pressure, positional attack. Understanding the load, in what condition the players are, I liked it.

After the 70th, young guys came out. Unreasonable losses began, when you take the ball away, you lose it, then you have to take it back again. Hard. But this is normal, considering that some of them are 17 years old. I liked everything, – said Karpin.

In the next match of the tournament on Friday, Krasnodar and Sochi will meet. Watch the live broadcast of the match on Match TV and MATCH PREMIER channels, as well as matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites. The broadcast starts at 19:20 (Moscow time).

INFANTINO: “If there was no FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries of the world”

FIFA President Gianni Infantino He commented on World Cup ticket prices, saying they reflected “absolutely insane” demand for next summer’s tournament:

“We have six to seven million tickets and in 15 days we received 150 million ticket requests. So every day we have 10 million requests. This shows how strong the World Cup is.”

FIFA has sold just 44 million tickets in almost 100 years of the World Cup. So we were able to sell tickets for the 300th anniversary of the World Cup in two weeks. Just imagine. “This is absolutely crazy.”

Infantino also noted that funds from ticket sales would be reinvested into world football, but did not specify a specific amount:

“The important thing is that the revenue from this goes back into football around the world. If it weren’t for FIFA, there would be no football in 150 countries of the world. Football exists thanks to the revenues we get from the World Cup, and we reinvest that into football around the world.”

Previously, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer called on FIFA to further reduce 2026 World Cup ticket prices.
