Alexander Kerzhakov accepted Karmiotissa’s offer so as not to take a long break from work, according to former Russian national team player Igor Kolyvanov.

On Monday, the technical director of the Cypriot club “Karmiotissa” Tthonis Antoniou announced the appointment of ex-striker “Zenith” and the Russian national team Alexander Kerzhakov to the post of head coach.

– Of course, one can argue that Kerzhakov, having agreed to the offer from Cyprus, went down. Still, the level of the local national championship is lower than the RPL. On the other hand, for any coach, the main thing is to work. It so happened that, apparently, he did not receive specific proposals from the Premier League. Alexander is a very young novice coach, and he is eager to work. Why would a person in their 40s take a long break? So Kerzhakov does not want this. Therefore, I think he accepted the offer of Karmiotissa, ”Kolyvanov said in an interview with RT.

In the 2021/22 season, Kerzhakov served as head coach at PARI NN Nizhny Novgorod. Under his leadership, the club took 11th place in the Russian championship.
