Sports director of the Belgian Football Federation Frank Vercauteren talked about how the decision to appoint Dominic German head coach of the national team.

As for Tedesco, I have contacted people from Spartak to discuss his football, the work he has done in the team. Naturally, we turned to statistics and other open data. I also tried to get some inside information, also from Spartak, which would give a clearer picture of his candidacy. From all the information received at the exit a positive image of Tedesco developed, so it was decided that he was the best candidate for this position.
There were five more experienced and older candidates on the shortlist, but the choice was unanimous, Tedesco was a priority choice for us.
Tedesco led Spartak from 2019 to 2021.
