“The Belgian national team under the leadership of Tedesco can become a champion” – Zavarzin

Former general director of Spartak Yuri Zavarzin believes that Domenico Tedesco can lead the Belgian team to victory in an international tournament.
On Wednesday, the Belgian national team announced the appointment of 37-year-old Tedesco. The agreement with the specialist is valid until 2024.
– From my point of view, Tedesco is too early to lead the national team. Still, you need some experience. A coach in a club and a coach in a national team are two completely different things. On the other hand, now everything around is rejuvenated. Nobody needs 70-year-olds anymore. And 50 year olds. Today we need to do a lot of analytics. Look not only physics and medicine. The computer counts everything, and you have to analyze and understand. 20 people serve the team.
– The Belgian national team has problems in the team. Do you think Tedesco will be able to solve them? Will he have enough authority to reconcile everyone?
– He is European. There is a different mentality. The Russian would hardly have coped, and they are all on the same wavelength there. I think Tedesco can handle it. I think that not one person made a decision on it. He must have fit in some way.
– If Tedesco fails in the Belgian national team, can he return to Spartak?
– I wouldn’t take it. He ran away when he was needed. What to return? You don’t step into the same river twice.
“So it’s kind of a shame.
– Certainly. Where have you seen a person leave and then return to the same position? There are very few of them.
– Do you think Tedesco will be able to achieve something in the Belgian team at the European Championships?
The Belgian team is not the Brazilian team. If he doesn’t become a champion, no one will shoot him. My opinion is that he can. Tedesco is a modern coach, ”RB Sport” quotes Zavarzin.
Previously, the post of head coach of the Belgian national team was held by Roberto Martinez, under whose leadership the team did not advance from the group at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In September, Tedesco left Leipzig, with whom he won the German Cup. From 2019 to 2021, the German headed Spartak Moscow. The specialist won the RPL silver medals with the “red and white”.
