Hatayspor withdrew from the Turkish Football Championship
Hatayspor refused to continue playing in the Turkish football championship in the 2022/23 season, said the head of the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Mehmet Buyukeksi.
According to him, another team, Gaziantep, also plans to withdraw from the tournament.
— Hatayspor sent us a letter today. It states that the club will not play their matches this season. Gaziantep also wants to withdraw from the championship. We plan to continue the tournament with 17 teams, provided that the previously named clubs retain their rights, – quotes the words of Büyükekshi TRT Spor.
Gaziantep is 10th in the Turkish Super League standings, Hatayspor is 14th. They are based in cities heavily affected by the earthquake.
